Isaiah 52:12 - “For ye shall not go out with haste,
nor go by flight: for the LORD will go
before you.”
You know, God tells us in the scriptures that He knows what we need
before we can even ask. Ephesians 3:20
tells us that He is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or
think.” In fact throughout our Christian
life, we see over and over again how our needs are met – our prayers are
answered – our desires are seen to before we even think about what we
need. God specializes in going before us
and blessing our faithfulness to Him. He
delights in making us happy – He takes pleasure in pleasing us – He goes before
us in all we do and blesses us more than we can imagine. Psalm 21:3 – “For thou preventest [goes
before] him with the blessings of goodness.”
It’s also a fact of scripture that Christ can help us with our problems
because He’s been there. Hebrews 4:15
tells us, “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the
feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet
without sin.” He experienced life as a
man – He felt the same emotions – He lived the same experiences – He suffered
the same tribulations – He went through the same temptations. So He above all others is able to know
exactly what we need to get through this life and He can go before us and make
the pathway clear.
What a blessing to be able to depend on one who has the omnipotence –
the omniscience – the compassion to go before us and make things right before we
even know they’re wrong. Can you just
imagine what things could have gone wrong in our lives that He straightened out
before they became a problem? How many
wrecks did we avoid because He sent a delay our way? And we griped about the delay. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all
things work together for good to them that love God.” Think about it!
He Goes Before Me
Many times in this old world I have been misunderstood
And it seems that
I was ofttimes treated wrongly.
But the Saviour
came in love and He wrote my name above,
And if I trust
Him, He will always go before me.
Friends of earth
will let me down, and my enemies abound,
But I’ve a Friend
that sticketh closer than a brother.
Jesus hears me
when I pray, gives me strength for every day,
And in trials He
goes before me like no other.
Clouds may gather
in the sky, tears of sadness dim the eye,
But the Saviour
promised that He’d leave me never.
Jesus keeps me
ever near, wipes away my every tear,
And goes before me
through the midst of each endeavor.
He goes before me
to make the pathway clear before me,
To keep me ever
near to glory, to conquer every fear before me.
I don’t know where
He may lead, but Jesus knows my every need,
And if I trust
Him, He will always go before me

"Lord, Thank you for being that 'friend that sticketh closer than a brother' - for not only going with me, but also for going before me and making the way clear. Help me Lord, to follow you every step of the way. Amen."
