John 20:27a – “Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither
thy finger, and behold my hands;”
Those Hands
While traveling on this earthly journey,
While traveling on this earthly journey,
We see such heartache, pain
and grief.
We sometimes feel that there’s no answer.
It seems that there is no relief.
But brother, I am here to tell you
That there is one who understands.
We have a sympathizing Saviour
Who has the answer in His Hands.
Then one day when we see the Saviour
Those Hands, those Precious Hands --
On Heaven’s bright and shining shore,
We’ll praise Him for His grace extended.
His blessed presence we’ll adore.
We’ll talk of all His wondrous mercies,
Of how He answered love’s demands,
And He will teach us of redemption
When He shows us His Dear Hands.
Those Hands, those Precious Hands --
They bear the marks of a sin-torn world.
Those Hands, those Wondrous Hands --
They show the love of a gracious Lord.
Those Hands, those Tender Hands --
He holds outstretched for the world to see.
Those Hands, those Nail-pierced Hands --
They offer sweet peace to you and me.
We sometimes feel that there’s no answer.
It seems that there is no relief.
But brother, I am here to tell you
That there is one who understands.
We have a sympathizing Saviour
Who has the answer in His Hands.
Then one day when we see the Saviour
Those Hands, those Precious Hands --
On Heaven’s bright and shining shore,
We’ll praise Him for His grace extended.
His blessed presence we’ll adore.
We’ll talk of all His wondrous mercies,
Of how He answered love’s demands,
And He will teach us of redemption
When He shows us His Dear Hands.
Those Hands, those Precious Hands --
They bear the marks of a sin-torn world.
Those Hands, those Wondrous Hands --
They show the love of a gracious Lord.
Those Hands, those Tender Hands --
He holds outstretched for the world to see.
Those Hands, those Nail-pierced Hands --
They offer sweet peace to you and me.

Yes, those precious nail-pierced hands speak volumes. When He held out His hands and told Thomas to
touch them with his finger, He was saying to him, “Thomas, it is I. Behold these marred hands that held the nails
that held me to the cross as I died for your sins. Behold the grace that was poured out at
Calvary. Behold the humiliation of the
Son of God suffering the ignominious death of the cross. Behold the marks of sin on the essence of
perfection. I did this for you, Thomas. I did this all for you!” Now, dear reader, substitute your name for
Thomas’ in that statement. Make the
reality of Christ’s sacrifice real to you.
"Lord, Thank you for taking my place on Calvary - for taking on yourself my sins - for giving your life that I might have eternal life. Thank you for the precious gift you gave in your dear, nail-pierced hands. Amen."
