John 14:2-3 –“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare
a place for you, I will come again.”
Abraham looked for a
city that had foundations, whose Builder and Maker was God. Well, he surely
found it. It cost him a lot, but it was a paying proposition. Wonderful city!
It has twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels. On the east, three gates;
on the north, three gates; on the south, three gates; and on the west, three
gates. The gates shall not be closed by day; so they are never closed, as it is
an eternal day. There are plenty of gates. We can enter if well prepared.
But the gates are well
guarded by the angels. Nothing that defileth shall enter into the city. It is
quarantined against sin. It is a holy city for holy people. In this city there
are no more tears, pain, sorrow, or death. There are no hospitals or graves.
The inhabitants never say, "I am sick." They never grow old.
Here the river of life
flows, and the tree of life bears twelve kinds of fruit and yields her fruit
every month. God's servants serve Him, and they see His face, and His name is
in their foreheads. It is the city Abraham set out to find and, thank God, he
succeeded. It is the place Christ went to prepare for His own, and from which He
will come again and receive us unto himself. It is our eternal home. Christ is
the only way to it. May we not miss it at any cost!

Many have tried to describe the beauties of heaven. But only one who has been there could dare to
describe it. John saw it – and gives us
a glimpse of it in the book of Revelation.
Paul saw it when he was taken up into the third heaven – but he was
commanded not to write about it. Jesus
saw it – and left its glories to bring us salvation. And He promises that we will dwell there with
Him if we have accepted His free gift of salvation. This makes it crucial that we tell everyone
we meet about the eternal gift of God’s grace, so they can share heaven with
us.
He’s Preparing Us A Place
In John 14 the Saviour tells us He’s preparing us a place
Where we’ll live with Him for all eternity.
He said, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be dismayed,
Ye believe in God, believe also in me.
For if I go away I promise that I shall return again,
So that where I am, there ye may also be.”
And when He comes again He’ll take us to a home so bright and fair
In that land that lies beyond the crystal sea.
And in that place are many mansions, where we’ll live forevermore.
If it were not so the Saviour would have told.
It is a place of dazzling beauty where no mortal man has been,
Where we’ll walk on avenues of purest gold.
He says that there is only one way to get to that blessed place,
And that through the precious Saviour we must come.
He is the Way, the Truth, the Life and without Him there’s no way
To inherit our place in that heavenly home.

"Lord, Thank you for your great promise of a better place - not a place like anything in this world - but a place full of glory and splendor - of streets of gold and mansions. But the greatest thing about that place will be that you are there with us. Thank you, Lord. Amen."
