God Bless America

Psalm 33:12  – "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord . . .”

The history of these United States has been etched in blood.  Those who have gone before have given their lives to preserve the liberty and the freedom that you and I now enjoy.

From Concord Green, Valley Forge, Kings Mountain and Cowpens came the birth of this great nation.  It was built on a belief in God and the realization that our very existence is solely dependent upon Him.

Her defenses were put to the test by the aggressor in 1812.  She stood strong.  In the mid-nineteenth century, she was torn asunder by the bloody strife of a costly Civil War – a war that shook the very foundation of this great land, but one that made her stronger, more unified, and more powerful.  It was destined that we should never again, from that day to this, do battle on precious American soil.

But from thence forward, the American people have answered the call to protect freedom and democracy from the forces of tyranny around the world.  We have seen the rise and fall of Nazism, Fascism, and Soviet Communism.  Would-be despots have raised their ugly heads around the globe, only to be squashed by the power of this great land.  But the American democracy stands tall and proud throughout the world. 

God has truly blessed this land.  We can proudly display the Stars and Stripes and solemnly pledge our allegiance to the flag and to the country for which it stands.  We can feel a thrill of excitement whenever we see that banner unfurled blowing in the wind and hear the resounding chords of The Star Spangled Banner.

Yes, God has wondrously blessed this glorious land.  God continues to bless us for the sake of all His children that grace these shores.  Our prayer should continually rise up to the heavens – God, Bless America!!

God’s Call To America

 Our country so strong and so wondrous Is blessed above any around,

But there is one thing that’s yet lacking, For blessings of God to abound.

America’s great in its stature, But sin and disdain rule the day.

We must come again to the Saviour, And His holy statutes obey.

Our country was founded on virtue – God’s righteousness we did reflect,

And God will continue His blessings If His precious Word we respect.

We must turn our eyes upon Jesus And seek His wonderful face,

And the peace of God will flood o’er us, And we’ll live in His glory and grace.
